What to Expect

Each session usually lasts 30 minutes to an hour, and the courses usually consist of around 6 to 12 sessions.

1. Understand

A typical one-on-one CBT session starts with exploring the nature of the existing problem, setting goals and identifying potential obstacles to success.

2. Analyse

You'll work with your therapist to break down your problems into their separate parts, such as your thoughts, emotions, physical feelings and actions.

3. Behaviour Change

Your therapist will help you work out how to change unhelpful thoughts and behaviours through a series of practical exercises.

4. Rehearsal & Practice

Your therapist will ask you to practise these changes in your daily life so that they become a natural part of who you. You will discuss how you got on during the next session.

Although some client issues can be resolved over 1-3 sessions, our clinical team recommend booking a block of 6 for the most effective therapy.
