What Clients Say

My weight is dropping and I am feeling fitter than I have in years. I don’t know how it works, but I do know I’m seeing results.

Eating disorders explained

Food and our relationship with food forms a daily part of our lives. We live in a society where international cuisine is available to us day and night. Food is intrinsically linked to body image and to exercise – by ourselves and by the media. We may use food for comfort or we may not recognise that we have an unhealthy relationship with food or with exercise that is affecting our health and well-being.

Eating disorders include:

  • Anorexia
  • Bulimia
  • Orthorexia (obsessive healthy eating)
  • Bigorexia
  • Bingeing
  • Purging
  • Obsessive eating patterns
  • Eating only certain types of food
  • Compulsive exercising.

Our approach to treating eating disorders

Our approach to dealing with eating disorders typically involves monitoring the client’s physical health whilst simultaneously helping them helping them deal with the root issue. This can involve therapies, such as:

Eating disorders can affect anyone, though most commonly they affect women and their want to be smaller. They can also be associated with men, for some men have a constant need to be bigger. It’s often quite difficult for men to accept that they have this disorder and that they have Bigorexia. Although, no eating disorder is gender specific.

Eating Disorder Clinics are available with resources on how to help people with different eating disorders.
